How We Work

The Need and the Solution

With eighteen-month tenure* typical for senior-level development staff, you are very likely to find your organization in a transition period and in need of an interim solution. While recruiting for permanent, full-time fundraising staff, Interim Solutions can provide the temporary and flexible staffing solution you need. Our team members can step in quickly and hit the ground running to ensure your deadlines and goals are met.

If you think you may benefit from temporary fundraising leadership, please call me!

We will work with you to identify the skills and experience your organization needs and the optimum schedule. We then submit the resume and credentials of the team member we believe will meet your expectations and set up a personal interview. All members of our team have been screened to confirm their experience and credentials.

Once we have completed these basics steps, we will submit a proposal for your approval. This process is usually complete and with the Interim team member at the desk in 2-3 weeks.

Interim assignments usually last six months to a year, some longer. The interim usually reports to the chief executive and works on-site for 3 days a week (and checks e-mail and voicemail when not on-site).

Underdeveloped, A National Study of Challenges Facing Nonprofit Fundraising, confirmed what many of us already knew about directors/VPs of development:

  • Short tenures
  • Lengthy vacancies
  • A limited pool of qualified candidates
  • The most challenging role to fill and retain
